Everyone wants to feel welcome when they volunteer. This session looks at how third sector organisations could welcome their volunteers along with how to create a good induction which will  enable volunteers to undertake their new role effectively. The benefits of volunteer agreements to both organisations and volunteers is also discussed.


Free to third sector organisations in Dumfries and Galloway.


  • Understanding the Scottish Government’s definition of volunteering and types of volunteering.
  • Knowing the importance for volunteers receive an appropriate welcome to your organisation.
  • Having considered the benefits of a “welcome pack”.
  • Understanding of a structured induction process and its benefits.
  • Knowing how to develop an induction plan for their organisation’s volunteers.

This session is aimed at those who support volunteers including volunteer co-ordinators/managers, trustees and third sector staff members.


The training will be delivered by Kateryna Stoian, our Volunteering Development Coordinator. Kateryna is central to supporting good volunteering leadership, creating and promoting volunteering opportunities and advocating for more inclusive volunteering.

The session will take place on Zoom. A Zoom link will be sent out prior to attending with the joining instructions before the session
