Transforming Communities Through Youth Volunteering
Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway invites volunteer-involving organisations (and organisations thinking of taking on volunteers) to participate in the Volunteering Network Forum.
Discover new ways to engage and support young volunteers, ensuring they can contribute meaningfully to their communities. This forum brings together organisations working with volunteers to exchange ideas, share the best practices, and create inclusive opportunities that empower the youth of Dumfries and Galloway.
So why young people?
National and local research demonstrates the importance of volunteering to younger generations – young people have the worst General Health Questionnaire mental health score of any age group, the worst statistics for anxiety and self-harm, and the second-highest attempted suicide rate.
We know that volunteering can help! Volunteer Scotland reported that those who volunteered:
69% learned new skills
48% had increased confidence
47% felt happier
45% felt part of a team
43% made new friends
40% felt that they’d made a difference
34% improved job prospects
31% learned how to overcome challenges
Join us in shaping a future where every young person can make a lasting impact!
Let’s dive in together, at the Volunteering Network Forum (April), we will discuss:
– Importance of engaging young volunteers to organisations, volunteers themselves, and communities as a whole.
