Annan and District Day centre – To tackle inequalities through early intervention promoting better mental, physical health and wellbeing issues which have affected our communities – £4,073
Supporting older individuals and reducing social isolation whilst improving mental and physical health. This will be achieved by low-cost meals, group activities and by employing one staff member and providing staff training.
Building Futures Galloway Ltd – Developing a model of Community Led skills training – £28,348
Creating a project to employ temporary staff which will enable them to manage step-change in their organisation. They aim to progress from a fledgling training organisation to accredited skills centre and offering a new model of non-academic access to qualifications for young, disadvantaged people. This will be a template replicable across the country.
Gatehouse Development Initiative- Gatehouse of Fleet Local Place Plan – £4,534
Working on the development of the Local Place Plan. They will be supporting the costs of a consultant who will facilitate community consultations and will process and present the results to the community using community magazine, Gatehouse News.
Kate’s Kitchen – Kate’s Kitchen Community Food Hub – £27,603
Maintaining and expanding their services, including ‘meals on wheels’, for vulnerable people, tackling poverty, food insecurity and social isolation with practical and personalised support.
Langholm Initiative – Langholm Initiative Cronksbank Regeneration – £27,090
This project focusses on the sustainable development of semi-derelict steadings on Tarras Valley Nature Reserve. It will support the community-owned properties contributing to the achievement of net-zero and enable the Langholm Initiative to carry out feasibility studies as part of local place plan development.
Lochside community association – LCA Community Larder Food Hub – £35,375
Improving food sharing services with energy efficient equipment, a paid driver and expanded activities to address food insecurity and the cost-of-living crisis whilst reducing their carbon footprint.
Old Luce Development Trust – CAP/LPP – £5,000
Updating the Community Action Plan and developing a Local Place Plan through consultations, workshops and surveys. This will encourage community input whilst addressing consultation fatigue.
Old School Thornhill – Thornhill Community Food Initiative – £5,000
Strengthening the Thornhill Food Initiative by employing a part-time volunteer co-ordinator. The co-ordinator will develop the service by utilising the community kitchen and garden and develop inclusive activities to address food insecurities, social isolation, and increase community engagement.
The Pamela Young Trust (PYT) – Balmaclellan Community Housing – £33,714
Developing affordable, energy-efficient housing in Balmaclellan to address local fuel poverty, supporting sustainability and community needs through detailed planning and feasible studies.
The Whithorn Trust – Developing Archaeological Tourism in the Machars – £38,716
Building archaeological tourism in Whithorn with an excavation field school and reconstruction of a historic church, promoting accredited skills training and boosting local tourism.
