He enjoys meeting people from all walks of life and learning about the different needs of the local community.

Maureen Okposio: Volunteer Generalist Adviser
“I started volunteering so I wouldn’t be idle, after my husband and I moved here from Nigeria.”
Maureen Okposio moved to Dumfries from Nigeria in 2019, when her husband, a Doctor, got a job here.
“Back home I was a practising lawyer and I started getting bored staying at home. So I looked into volunteering and as I’m used to representing clients, Citizens Advice was a good fit.”
Maureen loves volunteering at our Dumfries Bureau, “the essence is to offer support and empowerment. I love when we get results and the client leaves happy. I would encourage anyone who would like to volunteer with D&G CAS, we have a very supportive team and there is a great sense of job satisfaction. It’s an amazing place.”
