Summary of role
Board Directors have responsibility for Annandale Community Transport Service’s (ACTS) legal duties and for ensuring the organisation is properly managed and provides the services it was set up to deliver. ACTS has four community cars and four minibuses currently used to transport residents to routine hospital appointments both within the region and out with, including Carlisle, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.
Skills required
Volunteer Board Members must meet the criteria for being a charity trustee. Skills in business management, law, finance, office premises, training, HR etc would be useful, however, not essential. Encouraging team working, problem solving and good communication skills would also be useful. Enthusiasm and the desire to help the local community are essential.
Meetings and training information
Meetings last two hours and are normally held monthly during a morning. Some time to prepare for meetings also required. Volunteer Board Directors serve a three years term.
Training: Meeting with Manager and support from Board and Staff.
